Dr. Ronald Harris was introduced to the theory of plate tectonics in his first geology course. This knowledge provided him with a way to translate the pattern language of nature into something he could understand and therefore captivating his interest in investigating tectonic processes in young and old mountain systems as well as other interesting problems.
As a result of his knowledge and career, Dr. Harris decided to develop an organization that would help aid underrepresented communities through education and preparation of earthquakes, tsunamis, and other natural disasters as a result of active tectonic evolutions. Harris’s passion for this cause led to the founding of In Harm’s Way which has helped educate, prepare, and save the lives of many.
