Current Project(s): Mapping uplift rates and ages in the marine coral terraces in northeast Timor

I am from Washington State and am getting my undergraduate degree in geology at BYU. I grew up exploring the woods and climbing trees and love being outside. I stumbled into geology a few years ago and haven’t looked back. Working with the WAVES cohort and with Dr. Harris has been an incredible opportunity and I have really come to understand and love the geology of Timor-Leste more and more.

My research focuses on mapping marine coral terraces found on the northeastern part of Timor, and using the elevations of the terraces to match it to a sea level curve to get the ages of the rocks around the island. It’s a challenge, but has been so fun to figure out!
